Kinesis maxlight xlt forks

I have a mountain bike that rarely sees anything more than green lanes, in fact, it is mainly my shopping bike these days.  So, why have really heavy suspension forks when a Kinesis do the really excellent Maxlight XLT suspension correcting fork for ninety pounds? I reckon this has saved me 1.4 kilos.

Just for a change, this was an absolutely straightforward job.   The ride is now much more responsive and the bike is actually a pleasure to ride up hills without all the rebound.

I do have a couple of observations about fitting the crown race.  Firstly, I was surprised that there is no "lip" where the steerer meets the crown, I suppose the steerer just tapers a bit to seat the crown race - I dare say all aluminium steelers are like this, for all I know.  Secondly, the crown race seat is much wider than on other (steel) forks I have used, so that none of the crown race overlaps the edge of the crown - surely this is going to make it impossible to remove?  Let me know how it's done before my headset wears out!

Just for completeness, here are the Zokes Zone forks they replaces - weighed in at 2.2Kg.
